Taylor Smith

Instructor

Taylor’s love of dance began in baby classes and grew into a competitive dance journey at JDI Dance Company at just four years old. Through years of dedicated training, she has developed a versatile foundation in Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Jazz, Ballroom, Tap, Musical Theater, and Hip Hop, combining strong technique with expressive artistry.

Taylor has expanded her training through conventions including NUVO, 24Seven, JUMP, NYCDA, Adrenaline, Revive, and RADIX. Her education also includes intensives with the School of American Ballet, Ballet Austin, Joffrey Ballet, and MSA’s The Camp Intensive. These experiences have introduced her to a range of teaching approaches and artistic perspectives that inform her work in the classroom.

As a competitive dancer, Taylor has performed in numerous top-scoring group routines and earned multiple honors for her solo performances. Her passion for teaching began early: she started assisting JDI’s competition program at age nine and later developed her instructional skills under Cayti Laughery’s guidance. She has also spent three years as an assistant with PHNX Convention, gaining valuable experience supporting dancers beyond her home studio.

At JDI, Taylor brings dedication, creativity, and a personal understanding of the journey from young beginner to accomplished performer. She enjoys helping students strengthen their skills, explore their artistry, and build confidence through consistent effort. Having grown up at JDI herself, she appreciates how much a caring teacher can influence a child’s dance experience.

Taylor remains committed to growing as both a dancer and an educator. She is proud to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with the next generation, encouraging her students to stay curious, embrace challenges, and find joy in their progress.
