Born and raised in Sydney Australia, Miss Heather was a competitive dancer who trained in Classical Ballet, jazz, tap, musical theatre and voice. Heather trained under both the Royal Academy of Ballet and Ballet Australasia syllabus receiving high distinctions her entire dancer career thru to obtaining her teachers certificate at just age 15. She was also accepted into the Premier State ballet company, a pre professional program to the National company, where she trained for 2 years. As a young performer Heather also did work commercially, being featured in TV commercials and a mini series. As a young adult Heather opened and directed her own studio in Australia called Dance Xpress, and had many dancers through her performance program go on to work professionally both in Australia and overseas. Heather also worked professionally during this time taking contracts at sea as a performer with Carnival, Princess and P&O cruise lines. When Heather moved to the USA in 2011 she worked with a nationally ranking competitive studio in Washington DC where she was the director of a location, director of the performance team, of the annual company Nutcracker, also teaching competitive tap and jazz where her choreography consistently placed in the top 5 overalls, achieving highest scoring routine across the entire competitive season and 3 state region, in the under 12 division.
Now living in California, Heather will be entering her 5th season at JDI where she is both a recital and competitive training teacher focusing on ballet, turns and technique. Heather has also brought her love of Tap to JDI which has this season seen her tappers place in the top 5 in overalls and with a growing interest in tap looks forward to developing future tappers in the years to come.
